UPDATE: 'Winter-like conditions' on Okanagan Connector this morning

(UPDATE: May 22 @ 6:54 am): Drive BC is warning of "winter-like" conditions on the Okanagan Connector this morning.

It is slushy and slippery following snowfall.

They are advising people to drive carefully and avoid any non-essential travel.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the highway this morning, but explained snow will turn into showers as the day progresses.

(Original story: May 21 @ 10:54 am): Environment Canada has warned drivers to watch out for snow on the Okanagan Connector tonight and tomorrow morning.

Up to five centimetres could accumulate near the summit tonight, the agency said, before tapering off on Friday morning.

Across the south of the province, the snow level is expected to lower from 1,500 metres to 1,300.

By Friday afternoon, it should rise to 1,900 m.

Along Hwy 3 (Paulson summit to Kootenay Pass), showers are expected to change to snow tonight.

As much as 15 cm could fall.

By Friday afternoon, it should return to rain.

Over the Allison Pass, showers may change to flurries near the summit this evening, with up to 2 cm of snow accumulating.
