BC reports 366 new COVID-19 cases and 4 deaths over the weekend

Dr. Bonnie Henry did her first COVID-19 update solo today, as Adrian Dix is now on the campaign trail for next month's election.

She announced 366 new cases of COVID-19 over the past three days, 121 on Saturday, 117 on Sunday and 128 today.

That brings BC to 8,208 total cases since the pandemic began, with 1,987 of them currently being active.

There are sixty people in hospital due to COVID-19 and 21 of them are currently in the intensive care unit.

Dr. Henry also announced four additional deaths over the weekend, two of which happened in Vancouver Coastal Health, while the others were in Fraser Health and Northern Health.

There’s one new healthcare outbreak in VCH, but one expired as well.

Dr. Henry was pleased to report that there were no new community outbreaks over the weekend and also happily announced that there’s been no clusters, transmission events or outbreaks at schools so far.

Currently, there are 3,233 British Columbians that are under public health monitoring and self-isolating due to potential exposures to COVID-19.

Here’s a breakdown of cases by region, with the number of new cases in brackets:

  • Vancouver Coastal Health: 2,945 (128)
  • Fraser Health: 4,211 (204)
  • Island Health: 203 (7)
  • Interior Health: 508 (16)
  • Northern Health: 255 (11)
  • Outside of Canada: 86 (0)
