Watch your driving speed around playgrounds: Penticton RCMP

As we get closer to summer, mounties in Penticton are reminding drivers to watch their speed when driving by playgrounds.

“As the days get longer, so do the times between dawn and dusk,” said Cst. Dayne Lyons.

“Playground zones are in effect 365-days per year. When the sun starts setting later and later, the speed rules stay in effect later and later too.”

RCMP remind drivers that under the BC Motor Vehicle Act, they must not exceed 30 km/h when driving through a playground zone between dawn and dusk.

Failure to do so can result in a fine up to more than $250 and three points on your licence.

So, as the weather gets better and more families spend time outside at the local parks and playgrounds, stay aware of the posted speed limits.
