Penticton's Winners and HomeSense Superstore launches November 19th

Penticton has a love/hate relationship with Kelowna. We're not exactly big fans of the urban sprawl and the never-ending traffic, but we do appreciate the big-city amenities.

And that's why many of us regularly trek northward, often for the shopping opportunities that simply don't exist here. Home Depot, Costco, Best Buy - you won't find any of that in the south Okanagan.

But there's another chain that's long lured Pentictonites north. It's trendy, it has a cool urban vibe, and it sells slick stuff for your home at reduced prices. It's called HomeSense, and it's proven so popular that that new locations in West Kelowna and Vernon have opened in just the past few months.

But in a little over three weeks, you can forget all that. Because on November 19th, Penticton gets its own HomeSense. And not just a regular HomeSense either, but a mammoth Winners and HomeSense Superstore.

Yesterday, the site was a beehive of activity. Inside, workers scurried about, stocking shelves. Outside, on the Warren Avenue side of the massively expanded building that's long housed Winners, workers from Oliver's Outreach Neon stood in the bucket of a very large crane, installing signage.

The official grand opening goes down Tuesday, November 19th at 9:00 a.m., when shoppers will have their first chance to explore what Winners and HomeSense Superstore ownership group TJX Companies describes as "32,000 square feet of designer and brand name merchandise."

“We are very excited about the grand opening of our new store in Penticton,” said TJX spokesperson Robbins Griffith. "The HomeSense and Winners Superstore will provide our customers who live and work in the area with the convenience, value, quality, and brand name selection that HomeSense and WINNERS are known for."

"With new items arriving in-store daily, the store will offer shoppers an exciting destination with irresistible finds at exceptional prices.”

Regular operating hours are, in a word, generous. Beginning November 19th, the Penticton Winners and HomeSense Superstore will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
