Hungry bear rips apart vehicle in the BC Interior

Hopefully insurance covers this one.

The BC Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS) is sharing a story from the Kootenays that serves as a powerful reminder of a bear’s strength.

“Your car is no match for a hungry bear determined to grab the food or garbage left inside,” a social media post from the BCCOS says.

Accompanying the post is two photos of a vehicle that was ripped apart by a bear that spotted food inside.

“Bears that learn to associate vehicles with food can create a public safety risk; not to mention easily tear apart your car, as these images from the Kootenays show,” the post added.

The BCCOS reminds people to not leave food or garbage inside their vehicle and to ensure that their doors are locked.
