Judging by today’s concert announcements, there will be plenty to do in the Okanagan on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024.
Earlier today we told you about Ice Cube’s Penticton show on that day and now we can inform you that Alan Doyle will be playing in Kelowna on the very same night.
The Canadian musician who served as the lead singer of Great Big Sea for two decades will be coming to town for a show at the Kelowna Community Theatre.
It will be the first show of Alan Doyle and his Beautiful Beautiful Band’s North American tour, which will take them across Canada and the United States for 44 shows over three months.
Doyle, a Newfoundland native, will be joined by fellow east coaster Adam Baldwin, from Nova Scotia, who will serve as the opening act for the tour.
Tickets go on sale at 10 am on Friday through Live Nation, the same day that Doyle will release “Welcome Home,” the first single off his upcoming album due out in 2024.
The single is touted as a fiercely rollicking, Celtic-y, fiddle-and-accordion-goosed party track that Doyle wrote with country-roots artist Donovan Woods and Josh Kelley.
"Welcome Home. The words we dream to say when loved ones have been gone," Doyle explains. "I hope this speaks to everyone of dreaming to get all hands home, and to sing loud when they do."
Doyle's tour also includes four other BC dates in Victoria, Vancouver, Cranbrook and Trail.
