Even though it’s been a mild winter so far, nothing hits the spot during these chillier months like a delicious hot chocolate.
If you agree, you'll be happy to know that the Okanagan Hot Chocolate Festival, founded by sisters Taryn and Murissa Shalapata, is back for its fourth year.
The month-long event gets underway today runs until Sunday, Feb. 16.
That leaves plenty of time for anyone wanting to participate in this year’s festival to get involved at one of the many participating locations from Penticton to Vernon.
You can view those locations through the festival’s flavour map, which is online, and plan your route to try as many unique and innovative hot chocolate creations as possible.
The Shalapata sisters got a head start on the tasting by checking out five Kelowna spots to give you an idea of what to expect from this year’s participating establishments.
Taryn and Murissa say the mission of the Okanagan Hot Chocolate Festival is to “support the locally owned and operated during a slower time of year while highlighting the talent of local chefs and baristas.”
And just like in 2024, the event is supporting the Central Okanagan Food Bank and donations are being accepted through the festival’s website.
