Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis will kick off his Republican presidential primary campaign on Wednesday night and he’ll do so on Twitter. DeSantis will share the stage virtually with Elon Musk and make the significant announcement on the site’s audio platform, Twitter Spaces. He’s expected to be former President Donald Trump’s most formidable challenger and Trump has been banned from Twitter since 2001.

The 25-year-old woman who is accused of killing a new bride in a drunk driving accident on April 28 is seeking bond. Jamie Lee Komoroski’s attorneys filed a motion last week saying she is not a flight risk or danger to the community and requested bond be set at $100,000. She was charged with vehicular homicide and three counts of felony DUI after slamming into a golf cart carrying the bride, groom and others as it left the wedding reception.

Data from Statistics Canada shows that travel is well on its way to returning to pre-pandemic levels. The number of overseas visitors to Canada reached 281,400 in March 2023, nearly double the 148,900 visitors reported in the same month one year earlier. The highest number of visitors (114,700) came from Europe, while a significant number (72,400) came from Asia as well.

A California firefighter’s quick reaction prevented a potentially tragic situation in the family pool last week, and it was all caught on video. Doorbell camera footage shows Zachary Petite leaping into action to pull his one-year-old son out of the pool just seconds after he fell in. The infant took off his life vest and fell into the pool as Petite was helping another one of his kids.

An 81-year-old woman who was struck by a motorcycle that was part of the UK royal’s police escort has died from her injuries. Helen Holland was hit at a West London intersection on May 10. Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh and wife of Prince Edward, expressed her condolences on Wednesday in a statement released through Buckingham Palace.
