Spicy Wednesday results in 7 BC temperature records being broken

It may only be May, but it felt like summer across British Columbia on Wednesday.

A spicy hump day resulted in seven daily temperature records being broken in the province.

And they weren’t localized to one area either, as records fell as far southwest as Richmond, southeast as Creston and northeast as Fort St. John.

The hot spot was a central location, however, as Cache Creek pushed towards 36°C late Wednesday afternoon.

Here are all seven temperature records that were broken on May 28:

  • Cache Creek (35.9°C) - old record of 35°C set in 1983
  • Chetwynd (30.6°C) - old record of 30.1°C set in 2005
  • Creston (32.6°C) - old record of 31.5°C set in 1986
  • Dawson Creek (31.9°C) - old record of 30°C set in 1936
  • Fort St. John (30.4°C) - old record of 30°C set in 1936
  • Richmond (27.4°C) - old record of 25.2°C set in 2017
  • Vancouver (27.9°C) - old record of 25.9°C set in 2017
