Several temperature records broken as BC Interior enjoys mild weekend

Several temperature records have been broken across the BC Interior this weekend.

On Sunday, according to Environment Canada, the following areas logged new temperature maximums:

  • Blue River area: New record of 10.8ºC; old record of 10.3ºC was set in 2015

  • Cache Creek area: New record of 14.7ºC; old record of 12.8ºC set in 1963

  • Clearwater area: New record of 12ºC; old record of 11.1ºC set in 1932

  • Nakusp area: New record of 10.5ºC; old record of 10.3ºC set in 1997

  • Salmon Arm area: New record of 12.4ºC; old record of 11.6ºC set in 2024

  • Williams Lake area: Record of 9.9ºC; tied with record set in 2005

Environment Canada added: “The temperature records reported here have been derived from a selection of historical stations in each geographic area that were active during the period of record.”

It said the temperatures could be “preliminary or unofficial.”
