As for the storm totals from our weather event last night and this morning, there was significant variation between the reports of snow amounts up and down the valley:

  • Kelowna 10 to 15cm
  • Penticton 5 to 10cm
  • Osoyoos 5 to 10cm
  • Vernon 2 to 7cm

The Environment Canada record for January 22 and 23 in Kelowna are as follows:

  • January 22 record is 8.9cm set back in 1931
  • January 23 record is 26.0cm set back in 1982

As 5cm snow fell over the last several hours yesterday (January 22), and 6cm fell over the morning hours today (January 23) at the Environment Canada UBCO weather station, no official records were broken.

Higher elevations had some impressive numbers from the storm - Allison pass saw 28cm and the Coquihalla Summit had 20cm.

Skiers and snowboarders at Big White are enjoying a powder day today with 14cm last night. Perfect timing in advance of National Ski & Snowboard Day this weekend!

Here are a few snow total report photos from local residents on social media.
