As the summer heat winds down and the cooler fall season nears, a couple of BC communities experienced above-average temperatures on Saturday, including the Summerland area.
The Okanagan community area experienced a high of 30.9℃, a smidgen warmer than the previous high of 30.6℃.
Summerland's previous daily maximum temperature record for Sept. 13 was set in 1948.
In the Lower Mainland, the Richmond area tied a previous record of 23.5℃ that was set in 1999.
A special air quality statement is in effect for parts of the province because of wildfire smoke.
According to Environment Canada, the areas under the air quality statement, such as the Kootenays and the Cariboo regions, can expect to be impacted by smoke for the next day or two at least.
