It has been quite the month for Vancouver and global sporting events.
After being selected as a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, on Wednesday morning, the city was selected as the host of the 2023 Laver Cup.

The annual event pits the best male tennis players against each other in a Team Europe vs. Team World format.
Last year's competition, the fourth annual in Boston, featured top 10 players like: Daniil Medvedev (second), Stefanos Tsitsipas (third), Alexander Zverev (fourth), Andrey Rublev (five), Matteo Berrettini (seven), Casper Ruud (10), and Canadians Felix Auger-Aliasimme (11) and Denis Shapovalov (12). Europe ended up rolling to a dominant 14-1 victory.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal have already announced their intentions to be in the 2022 event.
The Cup will take place from Rogers Arena on September 22-24 in 2023.
In 2022, the Laver Cup will take place Friday, Sept. 23- Sunday, Sept. 25 from the O2 Arena in London.
Vancouver also had some positive news related to its pursuit of hosting the 2030 Olympic Games. Barcelona-Pyrenees has dropped out of the bidding, after no agreement was reached between the government of Catalonia, and Aragon. Therefore, just Salt Lake City and Sapporo, Japan are the bids that remain with Vancouver.
