For the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic, NBA basketball is coming to British Columbia.
Vancouver will play host to an NBA preseason game this fall for the first time since 2019, and it’s the first time since 2018 that the Raptors have played in Vancouver since 2018.
The game will happen on Sunday, Oct. 8, at Rogers Arena, and the Raptors will be taking on the Sacramento Kings.
The Kings are fresh off a surprise Pacific Division title and feature three-time all-star Domantas Sabonis, 2023 all-star De’Aaron Fox and Canadian Trey Lyles.
Toronto will be coming to Vancouver with two-time all-star Pascal Siakam, 2022 Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes and freshly-drafted first-round pick Gradey Dick.
“The Raptors have a deep connection with Canada’s west coast – our preseason games there have been a great way for our team to begin our season,” said Raptors GM Bobby Webster.
“We’re looking forward to seeing Vancouver’s basketball fans at Rogers Arena in October, and to starting another exciting NBA season there.”
Vancouver won’t be the only Canadian city outside of Toronto hosting a preseason game, as Montreal will welcome the Oklahoma City Thunder and Detroit Pistons on Oct. 12.
Tickets for both games will go on sale at a later date that has yet to be announced.
