Entering the game without their top goal scorer, Oswald Veit, the Germans were the underdogs as they fought to avoid falling to last place in the group.

Team Canada was hit with an early blow when Conor Geekie was tossed from the game 11 seconds into the first period because of an illegal check to the head.

Germany opened the scoring and not long after, Macklin Celebrini would tie the game at a goal a piece.

Brayden Yager then found the back of the net while on the power play and the Canadians were up 2-1 heading into the second period.

Germany would tie the game with the lone goal of the middle frame and heading into the third period the score was 2-2.

Early into the final frame, Carson Rehkopf brought the puck down the ice and hit Owen Beck with the cross-ice feed to put the game in Canada’s direction.

With Jordan Dumais in the penalty box, the Germans took advantage of the power play and tied the game.

The Canadians then went on the power play, and a minute after Germany’s goal, Jordan Dumais netted the go-ahead score.

Celebrini then scored an impressive goal at a sharp angle to put Canada up 5-3.

With Germany’s keeper out of the net, Easton Cowan would seal the win for Canada, pushing the score to 6-3.

Team Canada will be back in action against Czechia as the quarter-finals of the tournament begin on Tuesday.
