Team Canada unveils lululemon-designed athlete kits for Paris Olympics

Canadian athletes will be decked out head to toe in lululemon attire in Paris.

With 101 days to go until the 2024 Summer Olympics in the capital of France, lululemon unveiled its athlete kit for Canadian Olympians and Paralympians this morning.

It’s the second Olympics that lululemon has been tasked with creating the Team Canada kit and the first time was in Beijing 2022, making this the company’s Summer Games debut.

“We took an innovation-first approach to design a collection driven by athlete insights, so they can feel and perform their best in Paris,” explained lululemon CEO Calvin McDonald.

“All of us at lululemon are honoured to support these athletes, both as individuals and a team, as they represent their country this summer.”

There are several different fits for various parts of the Games, like the opening and closing ceremonies, media availability and accepting a medal on the podium.

However, it all comes down to four main design highlights, lululemon explains, which are adaptability, fit and function, thermal comfort and national pride.

“We are thrilled to be working with an outfitter that truly understands our mission and shares our values, and has worked so hard to create a team kit that can make us all proud,” said David Shoemaker, CEO of the Canadian Olympic Committee.

“Not only are Team Canada athletes going to shine on the field of play – they’re going to turn heads wherever they show up in Paris.”

According to lululemon, the design process for these kits included testing and feedback sessions with 19 Canadian Olympic and Paralympic athletes across 14 different sports.

The company says it was all about understanding the athletes’ unique needs during the Games, which Paralympic wheelchair rugby player Zak Madell says shone through during the process.

“It’s not only about looking good, but also about feeling good – and I can’t imagine a better way to show up for Canada,” he said. “I know this kit will be a part of my daily wardrobe moving forward because of the attention to detail.”

Fans who want to rep Team Canada while cheering on our country’s athletes in Paris this summer can get select items online starting today and they’ll arrive in stores as early as Wednesday.

The 2024 Olympics from the City of Light will begin on Friday, July 26, and wrap up on Sunday, Aug. 11.
