It was a night of celebration at Rogers Arena on Wednesday.
Before the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks took the ice, there was an hour-long ceremony to retire the 22 and 33 jerseys of Daniel and Henrik Sedin.

With the twins’ family members, former teammates, coaches, general managers and plenty others on hand for the special occasion, it was a special trip down memory lane for Canucks fans.
Kevin Bieksa gave a great speech, roasting Daniel and Henrik is his own special way, while the team’s owners and a pair of current players presented them with gifts.
The twins spoke for around 20 minutes, classy as always, thanking anyone and everyone that helped them during their lengthy NHL careers.
They even began their speech by taking a moment to give their best wishes to Jay Bouwmeester, who collapsed on the St. Louis Blues’ bench the night prior.
“First off, we just want to give our best to Jay Bouwmeester and his family,” said Henrik. “(We) hope for a quick recovery.”
Finally, it was time to watch their numbers lifted to the rafters to hang alongside Stan Smyl’s number 12, Trevor Linden’s number 16, Pavel Bure’s number 10 and Markus Naslund’s number 19.
As the banners rose to the roof, clips of some of their most legendary moments as Canucks played over the PA system and it couldn’t have been a better moment for fans in attendance and watching on TV.

Once the dust settled, there was still a game to be played and the Sedins’ fellow countryman Jacob Markstrom was the story.
The 30-year-old made 49 saves in a 3-0 shutout victory, breaking multiple Canucks records with his show-stopping performance.
Sedin week wraps up when the Canucks host the Ducks on Sunday afternoon in what will be a celebration of all the twins did off the ice during their careers.
