The CFL could be coming to Kelowna next summer and not just for a preseason game.
During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, both the BC Lions and Toronto Argonauts will be temporarily displaced as the major soccer tournament takes over BC Place and BMO Field.
In August, the CFL confirmed that both the Leos and Argos would be relocating two home games at the start of the 2026 CFL games for this reason.
It appears as though an announcement will be made in that regard during tonight’s game between the Argonauts and Lions at BC Place.
According to veteran TSN reporter Farhan Lalji, the announcement will be that the Lions will play their first two regular season games at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna.
“What a great excuse to visit a fantastic city,” wrote Lalji, suggesting that the Apple Bowl will be “built out” for the games to increase capacity by several thousand.
I’m hearing from my friends in the Okanagan that this is to announce that #BCLions first two games next season will be played in Kelowna at a built out Apple Bowl. What a great excuse to visit a fantastic city☀️

It also sounds like BC’s pre season game will again be in Langford https://t.co/xpmUlYJxo4
KelownaNow reached out to the City of Kelowna and Okanagan Sun director Eric Stansfield to get confirmation on the report.
A City spokesperson said they’d look to see what they could find out, while Stansfield has yet to reply to the inquiry.
On social media, however, Stansfield replied to Lalji’s post and said “we have been hearing the same thing. Should be fun!”
The announcement will be made between the first and second quarters of tonight’s game between BC and Toronto.
