Leos knocked out of playoffs by Roughriders

Fans of the BC Lions will have to wait at least another year to watch their team play in the Grey Cup after the Leos’ playoff journey came to an end in Saskatchewan on Saturday.

The Lions were on the road taking on the Roughriders in the western semifinal and fell 28-19.

Vernon Adams Jr. threw for 317 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions in the loss and the Lions run game struggled.

One of the interceptions came late in the match as Nelson Lokombo notched his first career interception and put a halt to BC's potential scoring drive with almost four minutes left in the game.

Saskatchewan managed to keep the Leos to 41 total rushing yards in the loss, while the Roughriders posted 102 yards on the ground.

Jevon Cottoy led BC’s receivers with 82 yards and a touchdown on three receptions.

The match marked the eighth consecutive road playoff loss for the Lions dating back to the 2009 eastern semifinal against Hamilton.

The Lions' 70th season is now officially complete, but there is still one more CFL game that will be played at BC Place this year.

The 111th Grey Cup will take place on Nov. 17 in Vancouver and will feature either the Roughriders or the Winnipeg Blue Bombers versus the Montreal Alouettes or the Toronto Argonauts.
