Three wildfires have been confirmed to have sparked in the area east of Osoyoos on Monday evening, eliciting response from BCWS and the local fire department.
According to Taylor MacDonald, BCWS fire information officer, three fires have been confirmed but they suspect another two more in the area.
Of the fires confirmed one is near Long Joe Creek, east of Osoyoos Lake and north of Crowsnest Highway; another is northwest of the Long Joe Creek fire on the north side of Anarchist Mountain; and the third fire is just north of the Canadian-United States border.
While the specific sizes of the fires have not been confirmed, they are estimated at 0.01 hectare with the exception of the fire nearest the border, which is approximately 0.1 Ha.
The fires are being actioned by the local Osoyoos Fire Department, nine BCWS firefighters and air tankers.
Some of the wildfires are in the proximity of structures, but they are not considered threatened.

BCWS says that the fires are believed to have been caused by lightning.
