(UPDATE: Aug. 5 @ 11:21 am) – The last remaining evacuation alerts that were issued because of the Drought Hill wildfire have now been lifted.

A total of 118 properties are now all clear. That includes the following:

The Drought Hill wildfire, which started on July 30 and grew to about 57 hectares, was held and evacuation orders were lifted on Aug. 1.

According to the BC Wildfire Service said the fire was under control on Monday.

As a result, the Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) will now be deactivated.

“The Central Okanagan Emergency Operations Centre thanks local residents, BC Wildfire Service, neighbouring fire departments, RCMP, and provincial agencies for their quick response and support,” the EOC said in a news release Tuesday morning.

(Original story: Aug. 4 @ 4 pm) – The BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has made a positive update on the status of the Drought Hill wildfire in Peachland.

In the service’s latest update, the fire’s status was moved from being held to under control.

BCWS added that there are 21 firefighters responding to the blaze alongside the Peachland Fire Department.

The fire is still displaying rank one behaviour, which means it is a smouldering ground fire.

While the status of the fire has moved in a positive direction, the evacuation alert for 118 addresses remains.

More information on the evacuation alert can be found online at this link.
