Heavy police presence in downtown West Kelowna to investigate woman’s death

There’s currently a large police presence around the Buckerfield’s location in West Kelowna.

The RCMP says it’s investigating the sudden death of a woman after being called to the 2500 block of Main Street around 12:45 pm today.

"We are still in the very early stages of this investigation, and we are working to determine the full details of this incident," explained Cpl. Jocelyn Noseworthy.

“We do not believe there is a threat to the public at this time.”

Witnesses took to social media to say that RCMP was surrounding a pickup truck on the grassy area just off Main Street and officers had their guns drawn at one point.

A tarp was laid out to cover the woman’s body.

Eastbound traffic on Hwy 97, as well as westbound traffic through West Kelowna, is backed up due to the incident.
