Suspicious package closes Okanagan park

The RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit has been called to Vernon after a suspicious package was discovered late Friday night.

At around 10:45 pm, police responded to Polson Park after a suspicious package was reported.

Police arrived at the scene and the package was found near the skatepark. Officers then cordoned off the area.

“The scene will remain closed off until further notice and we are asking the public to avoid the area,” wrote the RCMP.

“The RCMP’s Explosive Disposal Unit has been contacted and is expected to attend later today to deal with the item.”
