Okanagan woman’s body found inside plastic cart at Vernon's Polson Park

Investigators are probing the death of a woman after the mysterious discovery of her body at Polson Park in Vernon on Monday.

According to police, officers were called to the scene around 10:30 am after 40-year-old Christina (Tina) Louise MacKenzie’s body was found inside a plastic cart.

The cart was located in the parking lot near the Polson Park tennis courts, an RCMP statement explained.

“Our sincerest condolences go out to Christina’s family and friends,” said Cst. Chris Terleski. “Although a full determination surrounding any criminality has not yet been made, the circumstances of her death are considered suspicious in nature at this time.”

Investigators are trying to track the Vernon woman’s movements and activity prior to her death, specifically between Saturday and Monday.

They also want to speak with anyone who saw the large cart in the areas around Polson Park, including 25th Avenue, 32nd Street and 34th Street, prior to 10:30 am on Monday.

“Residents, businesses, and motorists in the area are asked to review any security or dash cam footage to see if they captured any activity related to this investigation,” the RCMP release noted.

Anyone with information that could aid this investigation is urged to contact the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote file 2024-12707.
