More than $24K raised during annual North Okanagan drive-thru breakfast

The North Okanagan’s annual drive-thru breakfast saw another successful year raising funds to support food security in the area.

United Way BC hosted the 20th annual fundraising event on March 22 in the Prestige Vernon Lodge and Conference Centre’s parking.

Volunteers welcomed hundreds of vehicles and handed out breakfast, hot coffee and prize bags that included travel vouchers, resort stays and gift cards.

More than $24,000 was raised with all donations supporting food security programs in the area like the Land to Table network which is a United Way BC food hub initiative. The program increases access to food, food literacy and wellness activities for residents from Revelstoke to Salmon Arm to Lumby and Vernon.

“We want to thank all of you for showing your Local Love! I’m so proud of this community and how they really demonstrated the heart they have and how much they care about each other,” said Michael McKnight, president & CEO, United Way BC.

“All the money raised in Vernon will stay in the North Okanagan region. That’s the great thing about United Way, it’s 100% local.”

United Way BC supports communities by connecting people to services they need.

The organization represents the six regions of Central and Northern Vancouver Island, East Kootenay, Lower Mainland, Southern Interior, Thompson Nicola Cariboo, and Trail and District.
