BC pilot uninjured after crashing while taking off from emergency landing

A BC pilot is uninjured after making an emergency landing on a beach on Tuesday.

According to the Comox Valley RCMP, the small aircraft ran out of fuel and had to make an emergency landing on the beach near the Courtenay Airpark.

After the pilot refuelled his plane, he attempted to take off but was unsuccessful.

Videos shared to the Comox Valley reddit page show the plane attempting to take off in a muddy area at low tide.

The plane began picking up speed, hit a bump in the mud and nose dived.

Fortunately, the pilot, who was the only occupant, was uninjured.

The RCMP confirmed that there was no fuel leakage on the beach.

On reddit, the person who filmed the original video followed up with footage of a helicopter coming to pick up the plane and carrying it out of the muddy beach on Wednesday.
