(Update: June 21, 2023 @9:48 am): Nootka Sound RCMP have confirmed that a plane crash northwest of Tofino has resulted in two deaths.
The Quest Kodiak 100 aircraft crashed in the Tahsis Inlet near Mizona Point on Vancouver Island at around 2 pm yesterday.
According to police, initial information indicated that the aircraft was occupied by four people, flying from Masset to Tofino.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and the Coast Guard responded to the scene, and RCMP responded by police boat.
BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) told VictoriaNow that two people were taken to hospital following the crash, after being transported to Comox from the crash site by Joint Rescue Coordination Centre personnel.
The RCMP is working alongside the Transportation Safety Board and the BC Coroners Service to determine the cause of this incident.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Nootka Sound RCMP at 250-283-2227.

A small plane crashed on Vancouver Island yesterday, near Tahsis Inlet.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) said this morning that they are deploying a team of investigators to the crash site.
The TSB said the plane was a Quest Kodiak 100 aircraft, and it crashed northwest of Tofino.
BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) told VictoriaNow that they were notified of the crash just before 2:30 pm yesterday.
BCEHS said air and ground ambulances crews met patients in Comox, who were transported from the scene by Joint Rescue Coordination Centre personnel.
Two patients were taken to hospital with injuries, but the severity of their condition is not known at this time.
