A special air quality statement has been issued for the Shuswap and Okanagan.
Environment Canada said those regions are being impacted or will likely be impacted by wildfire smoke over the next day or two.
However, the statement also says the conditions will “vary considerably hour-by-hour.”
Areas included in the air quality statement include the Shuswap, Armstrong, Vernon, Kelowna, Penticton, Princeton and Osoyoos.
“As smoke levels increase, health risks increase. Limit time outdoors,” Environment Canada said.
“Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.”
People who are sensitive to wildfire smoke may be more impacted by the smoke and should avoid the outdoors if possible.
That includes seniors, pregnant women, people who smoke, infants and young children, people who work outdoors and people with an existing illness or chronic health condition.
An update will be provided on Thursday.
