A snowfall warning has been issued for the Coquihalla (Hwy 5) between Merritt and Hope.
Environment Canada says around 15 cm of snow is expected on the highway today.
The warning says snow will begin Thursday morning and is expected to last until Thursday night.
“Snowfall will intensify near noon and will ease as the system departs into the interior,” the weather warning says.
“Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”
Meanwhile, a winter storm warning is in place for Highway 3 through the Kootenays.
Between 25 and 30 cm of snow is expected between the Paulson Summit to Kootenay Pass.
People are advised to check DriveBC for any road closures.
