The Ministry of Transportation has presented various options to improve Hwy 97 through Peachland and is now looking for input from residents.
Generally, the proposals would be presented in a public meeting; however, due to COVID-19, an online portal has been set up to provide feedback.
Option one would see increased traffic flow through Peachland along the current two-lane highway.
However, officials report that the existing two-lane section is not expected to reach full capacity until 2040.
The other two options bypass the town and both are opposed by the District of Peachland for the negative impact on the several local businesses located along the current stretch of highway.
“The alternate or bypass routes are definitely not what the community envisioned. To be blunt, it is very disappointing," said mayor Cindy Fortin when the options were first presented in 2019.

Residents have until Sept. 4 to share their thoughts via the online portal.
