Motorists who travel between the Central and South Okanagan are being advised of another Hwy 97 closure.
The highway will be shut down for 90 minutes on Thursday as crews continue to work at the site of last summer’s rock slide.
According to AIM Roads, the closure near Summerland will happen between 11 am and 12:30 pm.
“The highway will be closed to all traffic during these times and will be opened as soon as the work and safety assessments are completed,” the road contractor explained.
Drivers can also continue to expect unplanned 15-20 minute closures in the area, which has been the case for several months.
The slope mitigation work has been ongoing since last August and the closures allow crews to do blasting and rock-scaling work safely.
Recently, the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure said work will soon be transitioning to a “stabilization phase,” which means less closures as we work our way through the spring.
