Hwy 3A full reopening after rock slide in the South Okanagan

The highway between Keremeos and Kaleden is expected to fully reopen following a rockslide nearly 10 days ago.

Highway 3A closed on April 15 following a rockslide between Green Mountain Road and Twin Lakes Road.

Three days later, the road reopened to single-lane alternating traffic.

AIM Roads announced on Thursday afternoon that the highway will reopen to two-way traffic by the end of the day.

“We’d like to thank the Ministry of Transportation & Transit, Lower Similkameen Indian Band, and Penticton Indian Band for their collaboration and support,” AIM Roads said.

“A big thank you as well to our subcontractors BCW Traffic Management, Chute Creek Construction, and of course, our hardworking AIM crews for their dedication throughout the response and recovery.”

Motorists are advised to continue using caution when driving through the area.
