Your pet could be the face of Yellow Dog beer as part of BC SPCA fundraiser

The Make My Pet a Yellow Dog Brewing Star contest is back, which means a chance to get your beloved pet a spot in fridges across the province while supporting other animals through the BC SPCA.

The annual fundraising effort between Yellow Dog Brewing and the BC SPCA returns Wednesday, Sept. 4, and is open for submissions through Sunday, Sept. 22.

It’s a relatively simple concept, as animal lovers will compete by raising much-needed funds for the BC SPCA through their network of friends, family and community.

The top three fundraisers will land one of four highly-coveted spots to have their pet featured on a four-pack of limited-edition Yellow Dog beer.

The final spot will be awarded through a draw for anyone who has raised more than $100.

“I can’t wait to see all the wonderful entries to the 2024 contest and find out which special animals we will feature on our beer cans this time,” says Melinda Coghill, founder and owner of Yellow Dog Brewing.

“Their stories are so inspiring! People had so much fun last year showing off their pets, knowing that every donation would make a real and lasting impact for some of the province’s most vulnerable animals. It brought people together in a really special way.”

All winners and runners-up in the Make My Pet a Yellow Dog Brewing Star contest will get a pair of custom pint glasses with their pet’s face, as well as beer, gift cards and more from the brewery.

Chosica, last year’s top fundraiser who made a bit of history by being the first winner to put a cat on the contest beer, says the true winners of the contest are the animals at the BC SPCA.

“Mickey and I wanted to encourage the owners of all types of pets and all animal lovers to participate,” she explains. “It meant so much that we were able to help support the BC SPCA in providing care, advocacy and homes for animals in need like Mickey.”
