ICBC received thousands of requests for personalized licence plates last year but rejected 27% of them.
In 2023, the insurance corporation received 9,500 requests for personalized license plates.
ICBC says slogans are rejected if they don't meet guidelines and criteria or if they're deemed objectionable. In other words, they are rejected if they are discriminatory, secually suggestive, abusive or derogatory.
“ICBC’s dedicated team meticulously reviews every application to ensure each slogan is appropriate to display on a BC licence plate,” said Sandy-Anne Dodig, ICBC's Manager of Insurance Operations Support.
“A personalized licence plate can be a creative way to express yourself, and we encourage drivers to review the criteria and guidelines on icbc.com prior to applying.”
Here is a list of the top 20 personalized licence plate slogans that were rejected last year:

Those last two on the list were rejected because they include trademarked intellectual property.
