Police suspect shooting that killed dog in quiet BC community was targeted

Mounties in the quiet coastal community of Gibsons are investigating a shooting that happened late last week.

The Sunshine Coast RCMP was called to a property on Boyle Road for a report of shots fired shortly before 5 pm on Friday, Sept. 19.

Although no human injuries were reported, police say a dog on the property was killed by the gunfire.

According to the RCMP, the initial probe into the incident has led investigators to believe this was a targeted shooting.

“Two male suspects attended the property and fired multiple shots into a residence,” an RCMP release explained. “The suspects then fled onto North Road in a light-coloured sedan type vehicle.”

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the shooting to come forward.

They’re specifically seeking out anyone who lives in the area or has dash cam footage from nearby between 4-5 pm on Sept. 19.

Anyone with information can reach out to the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266.
