Police searching for suspect after float plane stolen and crashed in Vancouver

The Vancouver Police Department is investigating after a Harbour Air float plane was found badly damaged overnight.

Officers were called to the city’s waterfront around 3:30 am today after receiving a report about the damaged aircraft.

At this point, it appears that the incident was a botched theft, says Const. Tanya Visintin.

Visintin says a man had begun moving the plane, but crashed it into a second aircraft and abandoned the scene.

She didn’t confirm whether the plane got into the air or not, but said its wing was torn off in the collision.

Police are currently searching for a suspect, but no arrests have been made and no one was injured in the crash.
