A 15-year-old boy was murdered in downtown Vancouver late Saturday night.
Investigators believe the teenager was stabbed around 11:40 pm near the Vancouver Law courts and a passerby called 911.
Vancouver Police (VPD) officers arrived and found the injured Surrey resident on Hornby Street, providing emergency first aid before he was rushed to hospital.
Sadly, the boy died in hospital early Sunday morning.
“VPD investigators have been working non-stop to secure evidence, identify witnesses and find the person, or people, responsible for this murder,” said Sgt. Steve Addison.
“There may be people in the community who have knowledge or information that will solve this crime, and we’re asking them to come forward.”
While no arrests have been made, investigators from multiple units have been working to collect evidence from the crime scene in an effort to identify potential suspects.
The VPD believes there may be witnesses who have yet to speak with police or people who may unknowingly have captured dash-cam footage of the incident or aftermath.
Anyone with information, or video footage from that area late Saturday evening, is urged to contact the VPD homicide tip line at 604-717-2500.
Police are not releasing the name of the victim at this time.
