One dead after Corvette crashes into Prince George home

Police have confirmed a single-vehicle crash in Prince George was fatal.

Emergency crews were called to the scene in the 2600 block of Queensway around 2 pm Saturday after a yellow Corvette crashed into a home.

First responders arrived to find a destructive scene, with significant damage to the home and the sports car upside down and totaled.

Firefighters had to use extrication equipment to to get the driver and passenger of the Corvette freed from the vehicle and they were quickly rushed to hospital.

While the passenger's injuries are considered non-life-threatening, the driver unfortunately did not survive.

“Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased,” said Cpl. Jennifer Cooper on behalf of the Prince George RCMP. “Given the totality of the circumstances surrounding this event, our police investigation has since been concluded and turned over to the BC Coroners Service.”

According to the City of Prince George, both the damage to the home and value of the car were estimated at $50,000. Neither person inside the home at the time of the crash was injured.

No further investigational updates will be provided by police at this time.
