A convicted murderer has died in a British Columbia prison.
Eugene Raymond Benoit had been serving an indeterminate sentence for second-degree murder since Feb. 28, 1987.
He died at the Regional Treatment Centre in Abbotsford on July 13.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) said in a public notice that Benoit died of “apparent natural causes.”
The CSC will now investigate the circumstances of the death.
Police and the coroner will be notified, the notice explained.
