Search PentictonNow
The lengthy search for Rebecca Harbowy has come to an end.
Ridge Meadows RCMP provided an update today via news release, saying only that the Maple Ridge resident “is deceased.”
Police said the investigation is still active, and encouraged anyone with information to call the detachment, but added that no further information would be released at this time.
Harbowy was reported missing on Nov. 23, 2023, and was last seen walking east on the Haney Bypass at Burnett Street in Maple Ridge around 2:05 am.
She was 36 years old at the time.
Her sister Rachel Bertoia, who has been a very active figure in the search for Harbowy, took to social media with an emotional appeal after the RCMP release came out today.

“A very small part of my sister was found in a forested part of Maple Ridge,” she said.
The family is planning to push for local search and rescue to do a wider search of the area where Harbowy was found.
“If you are on search and rescue in Maple Ridge and you are watching this, if you have any pull, we would really love to get you out so that we could locate all of my sister,” she said in a video post.
Fighting back tears, Bertoia thanked the community for their compassion and efforts during the search for her sister over the past 17 months.
