Second-degree murder and indignity to human remains charges have been laid against a BC man in relation to the homicide of a woman who went missing one year ago.
On Friday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said 31-year-old Trenton Henneberg of Port Moody was arrested for the homicide of Chantelle Moore.
The BC Prosecution Service has approved one count of second-degree murder and one count of indignity to human remains against Henneberg, who remains in custody, the IHIT said in a news release.
Moore was reported missing to the Surrey RCMP on Nov. 18, 2024 after her family had not heard from her since October.
She was last seen at a hotel in Langley.

In December 2024, the IHIT took over the case after receiving information that suggested the 34-year-old woman’s disappearance may be suspicious.
“This is the kind of investigation that keeps us up at night,” says Sgt. Freda Fong of IHIT.
“While the laying of charges is a significant milestone, there is still a lot of work ahead as the prosecution process begins. It has been an extremely difficult time for Chantelle’s parents, and we continue to offer them support throughout the court proceedings.”
Investigators said they believed Henneberg and Moore were known to each other, and this was not a random incident.
Now that the matter is in the courts’ hands, no additional information will be released.
