'Heartbreaking': Kittens found stuffed in BC dumpster die despite emergency treatment

Two day-old kittens have died after being thrown into a dumpster in Vancouver.

The animals were found stuffed inside a plastic bag with the words “Love You” printed on it after a passerby heard them among the garbage.

They were rushed to an emergency clinic for treatment after their April 19 discovery but have since died.

The cats were suffering from hypothermia and dehydration.

“This is an absolutely heartbreaking case, where two innocent animals were thrown out like trash to die,” explained Eileen Drever, senior officer of protection and stakeholder relations at BC SPCA.

“We responded immediately and transported them for emergency care, but sadly they were too weak and compromised to survive.”

Drever urged people who cannot look after an animal to get in touch with their local SPCA for support.

“Animals are not disposable and there is no reason to cause an animal suffer and die in such an unnecessary and inhumane way,” she added.

If anyone has any information about the kittens – who were found inside a secured parking area at 1040 Pacific Street – they are asked to call 1-855-622-7722.
