A Vancouver man who was in the public eye during a BC-wide Amber Alert in March has been arrested again.
Davis Lim’s two-year-old son was the subject of the March 13 Amber Alert, which only lasted about two hours before the boy was safely recovered and Lim was arrested.
The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) says that the 39-year-old Lim was arrested again around 9 am on April 4 “after returning to the scene of an alleged child abduction.”
According to police, Lim was at the West Coast Family Centre on April 4, which was a breach of his release conditions imposed after his March 13 arrest.
The West Coast Family Centre in Vancouver is where Lim allegedly took his son from last month, which prompted the Amber Alert.
The VPD says Lim’s April 4 visit to the West Coast Family Centre appeared to be part of a protest and he was in the company of three other adults and several children.
“As police were taking the suspect into custody, he allegedly resisted arrest and assaulted one officer,” a VPD release explained. “He was taken to jail, charged with multiple offences, and later released by the court.”
Lim has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and failure to comply with an undertaking.
His current bail conditions restrict him from attending any Ministry of Children and Family Development office in BC.
According to Okanagan news site InfoTel, Lim and his wife lost custody of the two-year-old boy in March 2023.
