David Eby praises 'fighter' John Horgan as former BC premier diagnosed with cancer for 3rd time

Former British Columbia Premier John Horgan has cancer for the third time in his life.

Now Canada’s ambassador to Germany, Horgan, 64, led BC between 2017 and 2022.

The BC NDP stalwart was appointed ambassador to the EU’s largest country in November 2023.

He was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2021, his second experience of the disease following a bout of bladder cancer in his 40s.

Premier David Eby, Horgan’s successor, wrote on X that “all British Columbians are pulling for him to make a speedy recovery.”

Horgan, he added, “is a fighter.”

Among the other provincial politicians to wish the former premier well were BC United Leader Kevin Falcon, Health Minister Adrian Dix and the Conservative Party of BC.
