Bodies of 2 paddleboarders recovered from BC Lake

Two paddleboarders who went missing in Browning Lake near Squamish have been found dead, RCMP say.

Squamish RCMP say they were called around 3 p.m. on May 30, 2026, after two people fell from a paddleboard in Browning Lake, within Murrin Provincial Park, and did not resurface.

Police say a coordinated search began immediately.

Squamish Search and Rescue, the B.C. Conservation Officer Service, Squamish Fire Rescue, BC Emergency Health Services and RCMP Air One were among the agencies involved.

On June 2, 2026, the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team attended the lake to continue the search.

Police say both individuals were located and recovered during that operation.

“We are deeply grateful for the dedicated support and coordinated efforts of our specialized teams and partner agencies who assisted in this search and recovery,” said Staff Sgt. Sasha Banks, operations commander of the Squamish RCMP.
