A BC vice principal has been handed a temporary suspension for reportedly shoving a youth while removing them from school property.
The BC teacher regulator published a consent resolution agreement with Ryan Dubé on Tuesday detailing the incident, which took place on Jan. 19, 2024.
At about 1:40 pm, Dubé responded to a request from a colleague to help remove a youth who was not a student at the Sooke school and wasn't allowed to be in the school.
When Dubé responded, he found another vice principal engaging with the youth and walking them towards a set of stairs.

Dubé then engaged with the student and "initiated inappropriate physical contact.”
In a summary of the consent resolution agreement, the BC Commissioner for Teacher Regulation wrote that Dubé aggressively pushed the youth from behind.
The youth was escorted off school property without further challenges.
On Mar. 15, 2025, the school district served Dubé a three-day unpaid suspension.
The district also ordered him to complete a course on deescalating hostility, review the standards for BC Educators and a review of the school boards code of conduct.
He served the suspension from Mar. 18-20, 2024 and completed the course in April 2025.
In the agreement, Dubé agreed that his actions constituted professional misconduct.
He also agreed to a one-day suspension, which will be served on Sept. 19, 2025.
The regulator said despite Dubé showing concern for student and staff safety, the inappropriate physical contact failed to show appropriate behaviour of a vice principal.
