BC Premier John Horgan announced that the province will begin to move into Phase 3 of its plan to reopen the economy on Wednesday.
The newest phase of the restart plan notably permits recreational travel for BC residents throughout the province.
It also includes reopening movie theatres, spas, hotels and resorts.
"I think this can be an exciting summer for all of us, but be mindful: this is not regular programming," said Horgan.
Film and television productions can also resume under Phase 3, as well as overnight camping in parks.
Horgan reiterated that the federal government's ban on non-essential travel at US-Canada border will hopefully remain in place.
COVID-19 cases have spiked in places like Washington, Idaho, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona and California over the past few weeks.
On Wednesday, BC released new data modelling numbers updating the status of infections.
Those numbers showed that from Phase 1 to Phase 2, social interaction rates in the province went from 30% during the peak of the pandemic to 65% of normal.
The second phase kicked off on May 19, when restaurants, hair salons, dentist offices and physiotherapy clinics were permitted to reopen.
Public schools have been open on reduced schedules for students since June 1, with no reported outbreaks.
