The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is asking for the public’s help in locating a pair of men wanted on Canada-wide warrants.
Police say 43-year-old Omid Mashinchi and 40-year-old Amir Navarchi are wanted in connection with a large-scale drug trafficking investigation called Project Torque.
“Project Torque began in November 2021, focusing on a kilogram-level drug-trafficking operation that was based in Vancouver, and operating both domestically and internationally,” wrote police.
Following a three-year-long investigation, six people, including Mashinchi and Navarchi, were arrested and charged.
“Investigators seized more than 200 kilograms of hard drugs valued at approximately $16 million, along with seven firearms, and $500,000 in cash and jewelry,” added police.
“All six suspects were released pending an ongoing investigation.”
In June 2024, the BC Prosecution Services approved charges and four of the six suspects were located and arrested, but Mashinchi and Navarchi remain at large.
