BC driver ‘so impaired’ that he hands police officer hamburger instead of driver's license

Police around the province have been out in full force this month, conducting road blocks in an effort to keep impaired drivers off the road.

On Vancouver Island, the Victoria Police took a pair of impaired drivers off the road on both Thursday and Saturday, but it was a stop on Friday that was most intriguing.

A driver was pulled over at a roadblock and when asked to provide his driver’s license to the officer, he handed over something else.

“During our roadblock tonight, one impaired (driver) tried to give his hamburger to our member instead of (his) driver’s license,” said the tweet from the Victoria Police Department’s traffic account.

“He was so impaired, he could not provide a sample.”

While it’s easy to chuckle at the incident since police were able to remove the driver from the road, it certainly wouldn’t have been comical if the driver did some damage before officers reached him.

According to the Twitter account, the driver did almost hit strike one officer and a Mountie on his approach to the roadblock, making it a “very scary” incident indeed.
