BC RCMP’s April Fools' joke results in an actual police cat application

On April 1, RCMP in British Columbia had everyone laughing with their harmless April Fool’s joke.

They created a job posting looking for cats to join the new Police Cat Services department, saying the animals could “work for almost 15 minutes a day before getting bored.”

It was good for a laugh, but no one expected the fake job posting to result in any applications.

Last week, the RCMP received an application in the mail from Penny Cirque, although sadly there’s no return contact information.

Penny’s resume boasts that she showed so much acrobatic promise as a kitten that she was going to join Cirque du Soleil, but now feels a career in law enforcement would better suit her.

“The bad guys could easily be taken in by my charm and I am sure they would tell me all the bad things they have done,” reads the resume.

“Especially if I offered to let them stroke me when they had confessed and made amends.”

Penny also grew up with horses in Surrey and says she could easily be apart of the RCMP Musical Ride.

Not only that, but the feline is “well versed in high speed driving,” which is obviously a big factor for police recruits.

There’s no word on whether the cat will survive the RCMP’s vetting process, but she certainly seems like a purr-fect candidate for the position.
